The PM, Narendra Modi government on Tuesday introduced the 128th Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2023, to bring in 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and all state Legislative Assemblies. This will include reserving 1/3rd of the seats kept for SC/STs, and “as nearly as possible”, 1/3rd of the total seats in the general category.

According to the High Court, the POCSO Act requires proof of a culpable mental state on the part of the accused for any prosecution of an offence under the act. The court will presume this mental state in such cases.

Adv. Harish Salve (68), former Solicitor General of India, has married Trina (a woman of Afgan origin)in a private wedding ceremony in London, UK. Abstract:

The Gujarat High Court dismissed several petitions challenging the State government’s decision to implement a minimum age limit of six years for admission to Class 1 from the current academic year. The parents argued that their children should be exempt from the age requirement since they had attended preschool before turning three. However, the court rejected this argument.

A special Gurugram court has framed charges against 8 media professionals, including anchors Chitra Tripathi, Deepak Chaurasia, Ajit Anjum, Md Sohail and Rashid Hashmi, in connection with a 2013 case filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
