Justice Sujoy Paul to Become Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court

Justice Sujoy Paul is set to be appointed as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. He is currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. Justice Paul, whose parent High Court is the Madhya Pradesh High Court, was transferred to Calcutta in July 2025. Justice Revati Mohite-Dere Sworn in as Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court

Justice Revati Mohite-Dere was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court on January 10, 2026. The oath of office was administered by Governor Chandrashekhar H. Her appointment follows the transfer of the incumbent Chief Justice, and the Central Government had notified her appointment effective from the date she assumed charge.

Born in Pune, Justice Mohite-Dere obtained her law degree from Symbiosis Law College and completed her LL.M. at the University of Cambridge, UK. She began her legal career in the Chambers of her father, Senior Advocate Vijayrao A. Mohite, and later worked with Barrister Raja S. Bhosale in Mumbai. She was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on June 21, 2013, and was elevated as a Permanent Judge on March 2, 2016. In her farewell address at the Bombay High Court, she urged the bar to “speak truth to power, challenge injustice, and stand firmly for the voiceless.”
