Share:

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of eight judicial officers as judges of the Gujarat High Court. The recommendation comes as part of ongoing efforts to address vacancies and improve judicial efficiency in the state.

Judicial Officers Recommended for Appointment

The eight judicial officers proposed for elevation to the Gujarat High Court are:

  1. Liyakathussain Shamsuddin Pirzada
  2. Ramchandra Thakurdas Vachhani
  3. Jayesh Lakhanshibhai Odedra
  4. Pranav Maheshbhai Raval
  5. Mool Chand Tyagi
  6. Dipak Mansukhlal Vyas
  7. Utkarsh Thakorbhai Desai
  8. Rohenkumar Kundanlal Chudawal

Current Strength of Gujarat High Court

At present, the Gujarat High Court has 32 judges, which is significantly lower than its sanctioned strength of 52 judges. The appointment of these new judges is expected to help reduce the current backlog of cases and improve the overall functioning of the court.

Conclusion

The Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation marks an important step toward addressing the judicial vacancy in the Gujarat High Court, ensuring better access to justice and a more efficient legal process for the people of Gujarat. The final appointments will be made following approval from the President of India.
