Assam Judicial SERVICES PRELIMINARY & MAINS EXAMINATION

Total marks 100 out of which 90 marks will cover the topics mentioned below in PART A and 10 marks will be for the topics covered in PART B.

Those candidates who will secure 60% or more marks in the preliminary examination shall be eligible for appearing in the main examination.

NOTE: The ratio on the basis of which the candidates will be called for the main (written) exam shall be 1:10 (for one post 10 candidates will be called)

Age Limit:- General category: 38 years. & SC/ST:  43 Years

MAINS EXAMINATION SYLLABUS

PAPER 1:-       ENGLISH            [100 MARKS – 3 hrs.]

1. Essay writing.
2. Precis Writing.
3. Grammar.

PAPER 2:-  GENERAL KNOWLEDGE    [100 MARKS – 3 hrs.]

1. Objective Type.
2. Aptitude Test.

PAPER 3:    LAW PAPER I             [100 MARKS – 3 hrs.]

1. Constitution of India.
2. Code of Civil Procedure.
3. Transfer Of Property.
4. Indian Contract Act.

PAPER 4:   LAW PAPER II        [100 MARKS – 3 hrs.]

1. Indian Penal Code.
2. Criminal Procedure Code.
3. Indian evidence Act.
4. Law of Torts.

PAPER 5:   Language Paper        [50 MARKS]
  • To test Proficiency in Official language(s) of Assam (Assamese)
     All the candidates who obtain 60% or more aggregate marks in the Main written examination subject
    to securing at least 45% marks in individual paper 1, 2, 3 and 4, and minimum 35% marks in the
    official language paper 5 shall be eligible for Viva-voce.
  • Provided that SC/ST candidates who obtained 50% or more aggregate marks in the main written
    examination subject to securing minimum 40% marks in individual paper 1, 2, 3 and 4, and minimum
    35% marks in the language paper 5 shall be called for Viva-voce.
  • The marks secured in the language paper Shall be qualifying in nature and shall not be counted in
    the aggregate marks secured by the candidates in the examination for the purpose of final selection.

INTERVIEW – {50 marks}

  • Personality Test, Academic knowledge, Communication skills
  • The candidate shall have to secure Minimum 60% marks in the interview.
