Sartej Singh Narula emerged victorious in the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association (HCBA) presidential election, securing 1,781 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ravinder Singh Randhawa, who polled 1,404 votes. Former president Vikas Malik garnered 816 votes in the closely watched contest.
The HCBA lawns buzzed with jubilation as advocates and supporters surrounded Narula, draping him in vibrant orange and yellow garlands that nearly obscured his lawyer’s coat. “This victory belongs to every member who envisioned a stronger, more dynamic HCBA,” declared Narula, emphasizing unity and collective progress. Sweets were distributed, and spontaneous bhangra performances erupted as supporters paraded through the court corridors.
Narula, known for his administrative acumen, campaigned on pledges to modernize infrastructure, enhance welfare schemes for lawyers, and strengthen collaboration between the Bar and judiciary. “My priority is to build a progressive, united association that champions every advocate’s growth,” he affirmed post-victory.
The election also saw Advocate Nilesh Bhardawaj elected vice-president, Advocate Gagandeep Jammu as secretary, Advocate Bhagyshiri Setia as joint secretary, and Advocate Harvinder Singh Mann as treasurer. The new executive body faces the task of addressing longstanding concerns within the legal community while steering the HCBA toward Narula’s vision of reform.
The outcome marks a fresh chapter for the association, which represents lawyers in the shared High Court for Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, with members hopeful for tangible improvements in professional conditions and institutional efficiency.
