Court Issues Summons, Schedules Hearing for April 28
On Monday, the Delhi High Court summoned Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in response to a defamation lawsuit filed by BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav directed that the matter be listed before the joint registrar on April 28, 2025 for further proceedings.

Defamation Allegations Against Shashi Tharoor
In his suit, Rajeev Chandrasekhar alleges that Shashi Tharoor made false and defamatory statements at various public forums in April 2024. These statements, according to Chandrasekhar, have severely impacted his professional and personal reputation.

Demands for Apology and Compensation
Chandrasekhar has sought a public apology from Tharoor and demanded Rs 10 crore in damages. The BJP leader claims that Tharoor’s statements have damaged his standing, particularly over an interview Tharoor gave to a television channel, where he allegedly accused Chandrasekhar of offering money to voters during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Court's Instructions
The court has directed that the defamation suit be formally registered and summons be issued to the defendant, Shashi Tharoor. Further proceedings are scheduled for April 28, 2025.
